The idea behind this book was a simple one. It should celebrate not just the 150 th anniversary of ICAS but also the character of the institution and its members.
So it is not a history in the textbook sense.It does contain ten chapters looking at significant issues, at turning points in the ICAS story and at the development of the profession in recent years. But scattered through the intervening pages are a mass of other items, some extraordinary, all exceptional.Some follow themes.Others simply reflect particular events or people and their times.The aim was to provide a book which could be read straight through but which could also be enjoyed, as one past President of ICAS would put it, as a dipper.
